Private home on Avenida Reforma, Mérida
This charming small home in Mérida’s Santiago district had just undergone a renovation when new clients bought it and began their own program.
The main things lacking were updated infrastructure – and a pool. The project included revamping the rear terrace at the same time the pool and fountain were installed, and to include a tejado (tiled) roof supported by a massive beam, creating a lovely sitting area just outside the kitchen. In addition, the client – who is an avid cook – requested a battery of cabinets and drawers in her kitchen, which miraculously made the small room look much larger.
Infrastructure improvements included a solar heating system for the pool, water pressure, osmosis filtration and water softening systems. The front courtyard was also restyled to include a fountain and a small but lush garden. And new mosaico de pasta flooring with an ornate border replaced more generic tiles from the ‘40s. Custom furniture gave the house a rich, finished appearance.
