WorldStudio International

"When we bought our house, we knew we wanted to make some changes. We wanted to strike a balance between a traditional hacienda feeling, contemporary design elements, and modern conveniences and comforts.

"In working with Worldstudio International, we not only accomplished our initial goals, but we transformed our house into something far beyond our wish list. Their creativity and insight in being able to assemble and transform the disparate parts was incredible. Their ability to execute the plan and communicate their progress to us 2500 miles away really was amazing.
"The design challenges were much larger than we imagined, and David and Keith’s ideas were both practical and beautiful. In addition, they always worked diligently to produce a product that would fit our budget, in spite of the surprises that always reveal themselves in old houses. Their flexibility was much appreciated. Whenever we came up with new ideas and thoughts, they both welcomed and considered them.

"Ultimately, the project came to feel like a grand collaboration.  The entire process was extremely satisfying. David and Keith are true professionals and we recommend them without reservation."  Gail and Gerry Eiselman

“At the turn of the last century, when Porfirio Diaz ruled Mexico and Queen Victoria ruled Britannia, grand architecture rose throughout Mexico – Victorian opera houses, Belle Epoque mansions, monumental public works that were considered marvels of engineering. This century, many of these properties are being bought and restored to their original Gilded Age splendor – but with the modern conveniences of central air conditioning and Wi-Fi, among others.
"Worldstudio International, with its New York credentials and hipster aesthetics, has the expertise necessary for success in Mexico. The restoration of a Belle Epoque manse in the historic center of Mérida was a challenge – restoring tropical mahogany French doors, made of hardwoods no longer available, while creating a truly contemporary space, consistent with European aesthetics and American standards.
"The greatest challenge in turning this vision into a reality was experience – experience that comes from managing a project in the way a conductor brings together all the various elements of an orchestra. Worldstudio International was able to bring engineers, construction managers, masons, carpenters, electricians, tile-layers and landscape artists together, to make sure that our project unfolded in a manageable fashion. And, of course, given that remodeling and refurbishing a Belle Epoque manse required securing permits from local government agencies and federal historic offices, this was an additional task.
"Casa Frederick Catherwood would not have been realized on-time and within budget without the expertise of this New York-based firm, and their Mexico-tested team. This ambitious project realized, and the result, Casa Catherwood, is a singular achievement.” – Louis Varela Nevaer

“In an often unresponsive, inefficient and unprofessional business world, it’s a rare pleasure to find a company that prides itself on the exact opposite … and one that lives up to its own high standards. This is Worldstudio International – i.e. David Sterling and Keith Heitke.

“From our first e-mail exchanges (we corresponded remotely for more than half of the project before meeting in person), I was immediately impressed with David and Keith’s responsiveness (imperative with a 14-hour time difference between us at the time), professionalism, expertise, incredible attention to detail and total understanding as to a client’s concerns/questions (their “Managing Clients’ Expectations” document is testament to this).

“Their suggestions and creative input during the design and selection process (impeccable taste and judgment) were absolutely invaluable to me … As was their continued advice throughout the project … As was their eloquence and ability to explain building processes … As was their knack for transforming words into drawings … As was their “down-to-the-last-peso” micro-management of the budget … As was the unbelievable amount of knowledge they have (and happily share) regarding living in Yucatán and Mérida … I could just go on and on!

“All of the above, when measured with their honesty, enthusiasm and absolute love of what they do, makes them an incredible find in Mérida. Add to the mix their tenacity, unlimited patience and good humor and you have the full package.

“They make the process as painless for the client as they possibly can (and I am in no way naïve enough to think this is an easy feat). Who could ask for anything more?

“Quite simply, I made one of my wiser decisions in life when I chose Worldstudio International for my renovation/design project. David and Keith are top gents and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I can unequivocally recommend them for any design or building project.

“If you want a stress-free experience in Mérida, use them. It’s really that simple.” – Lisa Burns

"We loved our house when we purchased it. But it was empty and we needed help. Help was at hand with the talented owners of Worldstudio International. Keith went furniture shopping with us in both Mérida and in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco. And, when we could not find the perfect piece – he designed it for us and had it constructed.
"Now, the décor has a pulled together look and functionality to create an easy-to-live-in home. Wrought iron pieces, wood pieces, upholstered pieces as well as new tiles in certain areas all work together – and all were selected or designed by Keith and David. Now we really love our Home!" – Susan and Gordon Carson
